Sewing at Nascar Speed

After not sewing for at least a week or more, I FINALLY got to sit down at my machine today and start working on another bear.

This one is made from an ivory nappy faux fur, which I'm trimming down to practically nothing, to give it that wonderful aged appearance. I'm using vintage pink wool for its ears, paws and foot pads.

I guess I was so excited to be sewing again, that I was speeding along on my machine like I was driving in Nascar, and have now busted every single needle in the house! ARGH!!! I absolutely hate starting a project and then have to set it aside for another day - I'm just the kinda girl who likes to start something and not put it down til it's done.....

I think I'll go digging around in my sewing baskets and see if there's a little lost needle somewhere....

Anyhoo.....look for him to be done in a day or so, and I'll probably list him on Etsy - just can't handle those Ebay fees anymore...

Itsy Bitsy Bear

Today I made my first miniature bear - jointed no less! His head has a hardboard disc/cotter pin construction, and his arms and legs are string jointed - I can't imagine trying to put such small little discs and pins inside of him, but maybe one day I'll take that plunge...

I'm excited about how he turned out, but have got to find a way to get some good photographs of him tomorrow, and will probably list him on Etsy.....not quite sure yet...

New Bear Listing on Etsy

I just finished another distressed bear, and got him listed on Etsy....
Measures approximately 17" - sits at approximately 11 1/2"

He's made from faux fur, which I've trimmed and distressed with coffee and cinnamon mixture.

He's stuffed with a mixture of sawdust and plastic pellets for weight, and wood excelsior, to give him the feel of an old bear.

Vintage wool taken from an old Army Hospital blanket, was used for his ears, and paw pads.

PRICE: $48.00 + $7.50 Shipping

A "Beary" Good Day

Today I finished up this lil guy - something about old bears or bears that "look" old, just bring out the child in me.

He's made from faux fur, which I've distressed. I used sawdust and wood excelsior to stuff him lightly, so he would flop forward, like one that has been around for decades.

His paw pads are made from vintage white wool, which have also been stained with a coffee and cinnamon mixture.

Two vintage black buttons were sunken into his head for his eyes.

He is fully jointed.

He wears a simple patriotic flag print scarf tied into a bow around his neck.

Bear Finds a New Home

I was thrilled to just get an email from a dear friend wanting to purchase my distressed teddy bear that went up for sale on the TDIPT Mercantile last night.

Thanks so much Chelle - I know he'll be happy in his new home up north! :)

New Lil Bear on My Website

Yesterday I just felt like making a lil bear, and this is how he turned out. I jointed him with vintage buttons, because I ran out of my hardboard discs and cotter pins, but am pleased with the look.
He's made from a vintage wool blanket, and his ears are lined with vintage velvet, which has been stained for an aged appearance. His eyes are glass loops, sewn in, and I've used cotton floss to stitch his nose and mouth.
He's stuffed with wood excelsior in his paws, with a little bit of polyfil where I had to joint his arms and legs.
His body is filled with plastic pellets and wood excelsior, to give it weight and a floppy-ness, as an old bear would have.
Around his neck, he's got a piece of stained cheesecloth and a tag with "B" stamped on.
He's for sale on my website at http://www.littlesistersdolls.com/, for a very low price of $15.00
