Good Monday Morning!
I hope everyone had a blessed weekend, and that their new week has started off well.
We visited a church yesterday that I had gone to years ago when I was a teenager. I saw some familiar faces of older folks that were friends with my mother and stepfather, and was happy to see that one of my childhood friends was now the pianist there.
It's a small church of about 200 hundred people, and I would love to visit again and see if that's where God wants us to be a part of.
The music were some old familiar hymns, and "He Touched Me" was one of them. That's one of those songs that brings me to tears everytime - I can sometimes almost hear my mother singing along. She had a beautiful soprano voice, and would sing hymns around the house all day, every day, as she did her housework.
I wanted to share the words of that song today, and will get back to my study of Jeremiah tomorrow.
"Shackled by a heavy burden, 'neath a load of guilt and shame
Then the hand of Jesus touched me, and now I am no longer the same
He touched me, Oh He touched me
And oh the joy that floods my soul.
Something happened, and now I know - He touched me and made me whole
Since I met this blessed Savior
Since He cleansed and made me whole
I will never cease to praise Him
I'll shout it while eternity rolls
He touched me, Oh He touched me
And OH the JOY that floods my soul.
Something happened, and now I know - He touched me and made me whole"
If you are burdened today, as the song says - I pray that you will let the hand of our dear Lord touch you and free you from those things that have you feeling guilty, empty and less than whole. He says in Revelation 3: 20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me". That's the Lord speaking to each one of us and letting us know that he so desires to have close fellowship with us.
May your week be blessed in every way
Janelle

Slow Train Comin
I was out doing errands a few minutes ago, listening to a cd called, "Slow Train Comin"; a Christian/Spiritual cd done by Bob Dylan in the early 1980's. I can just see the question marks above people's heads when they see the words Bob Dylan and Christian music in the same sentence. He released two cd's that spoke of the Lord and of how times are in this world. The other cd is called, "SAVED". I would encourage you to see if you can find sound bites of these on the web, or buy the cd's - they were so helpful to me during one of the roughest times of my life, and when my precious daughter sent them to me for my 50th birthday not long ago, it literally brought me to tears - she sent me something that she knew had such importance in my life.
As I was driving and "Slow Train Comin"was playing, and I knew I had to share the lyrics with you. See how those words penned over 20 years ago apply moreso today than they did then.
"SLOW TRAIN COMIN"
Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted
Can't help but wonder what's happenin' to my companions
Are they lost or are they found, have they counted the cost it'll take to bring down
All their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon?
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
I had a woman down in Alabama,
She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic.
She said, "Boy, without a doubt, have to quit your mess and straighten out,
You could die down here, be just another accident statistic.
"There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
All that foreign oil controlling American soil,
Look around you, it's just bound to make you embarrassed.
Sheiks walkin' around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings
Deciding America's future from Amsterdam and to Paris
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more.
You can't rely no more to be standin' around waitin'
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin' over in his grave.
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
Big-time negotiators, false healers and woman haters.
Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition
But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency
All non-believers and men stealers talkin' in the name of religion
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
People starving and thirsting, grain elevators are bursting
Oh, you know it costs more to store the food than it do to give it.
They say lose your inhibitions, follow your own ambitions
They talk about a life of brotherly love, show me someone who knows how to live it.
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
Well, my baby went to Illinois with some bad-talkin' boy she could destroy
A real suicide case, but there was nothin' I could do to stop it
I don't care about economy, I don't care about astronomy
But it sure do bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets,
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.
