Today I want to share a passage from I John 3, which is found near the end of the Old Testament.
"How GREAT is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of the Most High God! And that is what are are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Dear Friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure".
As a mother, I know the unspeakable joy in having a child - the love I have for each of mine is unconditional and everlasting, yet my minute little brain cannot even wrap around the truth of the boundless love that God Almighty has for those of us who have chosen for him to not be just our Creator, but our Father.
When we cross over to the other side - when we enter Heaven and are greeted by our Savior, it is then that we will finally understand the things that are too great for us while we are here on Earth. It says that we will be like him, and we will see him as he is - WOW, WOW, WOW and WOW!
My resolution for the new year is for my love and worship of our Lord Jesus, to increase and that I will hear him more clearly with each day - that my relationship will reach new heights.

Open Heart Surgery
Today I go into Chapter 3 of Hebrews, verses 15 - 16.
"Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion. Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt"?
How can we apply this verse to us in this modern day? What's Moses and Egypt got to do with us?
Moses was a great leader and deliverer of the Israelites, who stood up against Pharoah and set God's people free. They were led by him out of Egypt, where they'd been in bondage, and were tested in the wilderness for 40 years. They saw many miracles of God, yet they got out there in the desert and started complaining and then sinning against him, wanting to go back to Egypt.
Moses was used as the voice of God to the people, giving them the Law - the 10 Commandments, but they rose up against him, making their own god - a golden calf, and rebelling against the Word of God.
Today, we have Jesus as the One and only deliverer, able to free us completely from sin and bondage. Egypt for us is our lives when we are in sin and not in a relationship with him as Lord. He comes to us as a Mighty deliverer sent by God Almighty, to free us from the sin and bondages of this life that lead to spiritual death. If we accept his call, and not harden our hearts when he speaks, he will prove what he said in John 8:32, "Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free".
As Christians, we sometimes have "wilderness" experiences. God will allow things to come into our life to test our faith and trust in Him. We need to keep our eyes focused on Him, and his Word and follow closely wherever he may lead us. If we take our eyes off him, the temptation to go back to "Egypt", our former way of life, will come back to us, and Satan will make it appear appealing, just like he did to the Israelites when they were on their way to the Promised Land and got tired and impatient with God.
Open your heart to hear the voice of Jesus today - let him free you from the hurt that someone caused that has in turn, made your heart hardened; let him free you from the sin that has you saying, "God can't forgive me for that - it's too big"; from the chains of addiction that are slowly destroying your life.
In Matthew 19:26, Jesus says, "With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible".
Let God show you today what He's able to do with your life - ask him to come into your life and wash you clean from your sin, and to walk with you as your Father, your Friend, and your Deliverer.
We're just here on earth temporarily, waiting to get to our Promised Land - Heaven!

Heaven or Hell
Today I'm continuing my study of Hebrews, and I'm taking passages from Chapter 2: 11 - 18
"Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. He says, ' I will declare your name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises'.
And again, ' I will put my trust in him'. And again he says, ' Here am I, and the children God has given me'. Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death - that is, the devil - and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abrahams' descendents. For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted".
This sums up the whole purpose of Christ Jesus coming to earth. He came to save us all from the chains of slavery to sin, and the consequences of sin - death being the final penalty. We are all going to die physically, but we will live on for all eternity.
The question is: WHERE WILL YOU SPEND ETERNITY? Heaven and hell are real places, and God doesn't "send" anyone to hell, but gives us each the choice to make for ourselves. We can put our trust in Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, and once we leave this earth, we will live forever with him in all his glory. Jesus spoke of hell, the torment that will go on for all eternity to those who have chosen not to be one of his brothers, his children. He said, "Those who are not with me are against me".
In 2 Peter 3:9 it says, " The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance".
I'm sure at some point in your life, you have been posed with the choice of giving your life over to Christ, and your answer has been, "I'm not ready for that yet", "I'll do it another day". God has been patient in waiting for you to choose to receive his gift of salvation, but we are never promised tomorrow - today might be the day that your life on earth is done. Don't wait any longer - take the step today to get real with God and tell him that you need him to reveal himself to you so you can once and for all know that when your life on earth is over, you will go through the gates of heaven into his presence. Let today be the day that you make the decision as to where you will spend eternity. Trust God to change your life while you are here, and to have the hope of living in glory forever and ever.
