The Atonement for Our Country

Today I was looking for a scripture that I was going to share about inward beauty, and in looking for it, the Lord directed me into a U-turn to another scripture that I think needs to be said to all, and it is found in Colossians 2:8.
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world, rather than on Christ".
Our eyes as a country need to be set on God, and not on man. Our eyes need to be set on the grace and atonement for everyone through the blood of Jesus, not on the election of a black man, to try to right the wrongs of the past in our country.
I never tippy toe around the issues that I feel strongly about, and I'm sure not going to start now!
The world's principles, which is mentioned in this passage, haven't seem to do too much for our country, as we have followed it's principles and now stand in the greatest economic downfall of our time. Lawyers, bail outs and a liberal congress cannot better ourselves as a nation, but as it says in II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land".
That's the only answer for our country, and the only LOGICAL answer, in my opinion. Man's solutions have failed us, and it's time to turn this country back to it's Judeo Christian principles it was founded on.
And I'll stand on this soapbox til Jesus comes if I have to, and NOT apologize for it!

Hi sweet Janelle! Thank you for the kind birthday wishes - I had a wonderful, wonderful day. I have a big question for you :) I am starting a new evening Bible study for the women in our church next month. I have decided not to do the Esther study yet because of the time commitment. (Most of these women are single, working moms who will not have an hour a day for homework). Do you have any suggestions for a study that is meaningful and would encourage a lot of discussion? These women are hungry for God's word and fellowship with other women. Thanks for your help! Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi again! I would love to see your notes and thoughts about the Bible study!! I think it sounds wonderful. Many of these women are newly divorced or have gone through other major life changes this year. I think a study that reminds us all of our identity in Christ will be so encouraging and uplifting. Do you have these notes on your computer - can they be emailed? I will be happy to send you my address and money for postage if you need to send them in hard copy form. You are such a precious sweetie! I knew you would have a wonderful idea for a Bible study :)

You're so very right, Janelle! That scripture outlines the ONLY solution for our nation. If only ears would open to hear the truth.

Blessings,
Lea
