Our High Priest - Jesus

Today I'm winding up chapter 4 of Hebrews, verses 14 - 16 which say,
"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we don't have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need".
Jesus was tempted in all the same areas that we are tempted in - the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, the pride of life. He kept true to his Father, and at one with him, and was able to conquer these temptations.
Once we are believers in Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to have the same access to God the Father as Jesus did - we have to be willing to go to him when we are being tempted, and trust that he has made a way out of that for us.
Because of his Spirit alive within us, we CAN approach the throne of God in our time of need, and the fullness of his grace and mercy are ours.
No matter what you're going through today, or what temptations may come your way - stand up strong in the power of the Lord (Ephesians 6) and let him lead you away from the sin that is tempting you to become it's victim.

Have a blessed Wednesday

Janelle
