A Salute to our Veteran's

Today after going to the early service at church, we met up with a few people from our Leesburg Car group - "Uniques & Antiques"- and drove 25 miles south to Clermont, for a car show to salute and honor our Veterans. The event was held at the famous Citrus Tower, and over 200 cars were there to participate in the festivities.
The weather was absolutely BEAUTIFUL - mid to high 70's with just a few clouds. It was the perfect day to walk around and admire all hard work these men and women have put into restoring their vintage cars and trucks.
You'll be able to tell by my photos, which cars really caught my eye! I have a beautiful and fast little red mustang, but have always wanted to own a corvette at least for a day, so I could feel what it's like to drive one! :)
The members of our group that were:
  • Tom & Cindy(Leaders of our group) - 73 Dodge Challenger
  • Roger & Debbie - 76 Trans Am
  • Bill & Janelle - 94 Mustang GT Convertible
  • Don & Pat - 48 Ford

Tom, our group's leader, beside his 73 Challenger
A few other members showed up later on in the day, but my camera's batteries ran out of juice before I could finish taking all the pictures I REALLY wanted to take!
You know me - I try to advertise Little Sister's Dolls wherever I go, and I took along a couple of my Santas, and had them sitting on the top of the back seat after we dropped the top. I had a few people inquire about them, and gave out a couple of business cards.
At our next show here in Leesburg, I will be donating a couple of my Christmas/Winter items for door prizes. All the money we make in our group, goes to help out children who are having critical and/or terminal diseases. At Christmas time, we get to go shopping not only for the ones who are sick, but also their siblings!
Health issues can wreak havoc on families finances, and we just don't want these children to miss out on getting to have a few things to open on Christmas morning. I am so proud to be a part of a group whose main goal is to help those in need!

The photo that the dog is hiking his leg up to is the one and only Osama Ben Laden :)

What girl wouldn't want a candy apple red vintage corvette? ;)
Or even a silver Vette, should a red one not be available? :)

One of Bill's favorites - 32 Ford
Probably Bill's FAVORITE 32 Ford Coupe with a chopped top, done in a beautiful red.

This 46 Chevy just looked like a Florida kind of ride....very cool and tropical looking, don't you think?
This was another beautiful car - 41 Studebaker - a family could camp out inside of this thing, it had so much interior room!
After taking this photo, my batteries ran out, but how fitting that it would be an Army vehicle that caught my eye? This is a 58 Chevy Suburban, and was used I guess, for hauling gear for our men in service.

A fun and wonderful way to spend a Sunday - honoring those who have served our country, and enjoying the company of new friends.
