Liberty

Today, as I read through my devotional book by Oswald Chambers, "My Utmost for His Highest", the focus is on Liberty in Christ.

Galatians 5:1 says, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

A spiritually minded man will never come to you with the demand - "Believe this and that", but with the demand that you square your life with the standards of Jesus. We are not asked to believe in the Bible, but in the One whom the Bible reveals. If we are free with the liberty of Christ, others will be brought into that same liberty.

We must always keep our lives measured by the standards of Jesus. There is only one liberty, the liberty of Jesus at work in our conscience enabling us to do what is right.

Don't get impatient, remember how God dealt with you - with patience and gentleness; but never water down the truth of God. Let it have its way and never apologize for it. Jesus said, "Go and make disciples", not, "make converts to your opinions".

I pray that my life always points to Jesus, and that my words when witnessing to others point to him, and not a church doctrine or my own opinion of things.

Here's a thought for the day: "There is therefore, now NO condemnation, to those who are in Christ Jesus". Once the spirit of God has penetrated our hearts, and we've gone to him for forgiveness of our sins - we are set free - we are not condemed by our sins anymore.

Have a great day! :)
